सुखकर्ता दुःखहर्ताSukhkarta Dukhharta

He is the maker of happiness and the remover of sorrow. The phrase 'news of an obstacle' at the end of this line belongs grammatically with the next line: he does not let even word of an obstacle survive.

The sentence runs across the line break, so read this line together with the next one.

He leaves no trace of that obstacle, and his grace supplies abundant love. 'Nurvi' is a contraction of 'na urvi', meaning 'does not let remain'.

Contested reading. This text reads 'phanivar bandhana', a snake worn as a waist-cord. Many editions read 'phanivar vandana', which shifts the sense to 'he to whom Shesha the great serpent bows'. Both are in wide use.

Straight trunk, yet called Vakratunda, the curved-trunked one, and three-eyed.

Reads as a contradiction on its face. One commentary resolves it morally, taking Vakratunda as the one who straightens out those who go crooked; others treat Vakratunda as a fixed title unaffected by the physical description. Interpreted, not literal.

Rama's servant waits at his house for you to come.

'Das Ramacha', servant of Rama, is the poet signing his own name, Ramdas. It is Ramdas waiting at his own door for Ganpati, not the reverse.

Come to me when I am in trouble, protect me at the very end, you to whom the greatest gods bow.

'Nirvani' is read either as 'at the last extremity' or 'at the moment of death'.
